All-State Band
All-State band is comprised of the top high school band students from approximately 224 high schools throughout the state. Students 9-12th grades have the opportunity to audition to perform in this All-Star group which gives a performance in Louisville at the Kentucky Music Educators Conference in February each year. Students have a 2 step audition process. First round auditions take place at the District level by auditioning for All-District band. Qualifying students are recommended to final round auditions in Dec. held at John Hardin HS in Elizabethtown, KY. There is a $7.00 audition fee paid by the student upon registration. The MCHS band boosters cover hotel rooms and folder fees for students that make the All-State band. This trip is Wed-Sat with a 3 night hotel stay. Students that make the All-State band generally receive scholarship money and financial aid to attend college. In some instances students may receive a full ride depending on chair placement.
